Click on the image for the full picture.  I am continually fascinated by field tracks – where are they going? When were they made?  By what and why?  Pictorially they take the observer on a walk into the painting just as I enjoyed the walk through the field.  It can be a field I know well or one that I’ve never walked through before, but they always take you through to somewhere else and that’s where the mystery is.  Where am I being led?  This is a 23x29cm mixed media painting on board and the lines are made with a charcoal pencil that is very scratchy and never quite goes where I intend (which is the way I like it whether I’m walking or drawing).  Lots of surprises and continual re-evaluations.
