Click on the image for the full pictures.  A couple of A5 drawings made whilst walking the fields around my studio.  I’ve lately taken to using monochrome and yellow in my quick sketches.  Black, white, grey and yellow seem to lend an interesting spatial quality to the drawing.  I think that maybe the yellow strokes lend a richness to the surface possibly because the bright yellow (chinagraph marker) has an equal intensity to the black in a way that no other colour would.    The yellow mixes well with the black (also a chinagraph marker) to produce a rich green to the two trees which are the focus of the first drawing. I’m pleased with the result anyway.
