This is a 30cm square drawing I made whilst sitting in one of the old meadows situated along the cliffs close to my studio.  It was my first outdoor painting excursion this year and I found it quite invigorating.  Fortunately I was sheltered from a strong, cold north wind by the staggered cliffs that accommodate these meadows that were originally potato fields.  Its rough terrain and blackthorn can make sitting just about anywhere uncomfortable, but its strange how a battle with the elements can help concentrate the mind and release creative energy.
