This is a painting on board featuring one of our favourite walks in Penwith. Ladydowns is fairly wild moor (on a windy day, which is most days!). It is reached by a track sparsely populated with cottages before opening out onto the moor proper. I made a drawing of this cottage alongside this track when we visited west Cornwall on holiday before we moved here in 1992. I’ve known since then that it would one day make a painting. Its taken more than thirty years to come to fruition. But that’s how it goes sometimes.
