The field in the foreground of this 60x60cm canvas is one that I have walked hundreds of times. It had been a daffodil field, and once its boundary had been defined by an unbroken granite hedge. With the passing of time, the ‘hedge’ became dilapidated leaving only the large ground stones and the occasional gap which soon allowed a byway through. The daffodils were replaced by natural revegetation in the form of thistles, camomile and other plants and wild flowers. No doubt, in a few years time it will have taken on a new and different life.
