This is a recently completed 60x60cm canvas which features one of my favourite places in west Cornwall. The cliffs are not high and it is one of Perranuthnoe’s most attractive features that when walking along and around its coastal path you are never far from sea level and if there is any wind, even a light breeze, you are always accompanied by the sound of the sea. This painting was inspired by a drawing I did sitting on the top of a rock outcrop that overlooked the shore. This is a place where land and sea meet and I hope you can imagine the sounds of water lapping over rocks, boulders, shingle and sand.
The painting will be shown at Thackray Gallery in Kensington in the new year.
