This small painting on paper has very little to do with what I’ve been doing over the last two weeks. (No post last weekend as I was dancing tango in Totnes). But this was an enjoyable, (not to mention, necessary), diversion from another much larger painting that I’ve been obsessing over.
I usually have anything up to a dozen paintings on the go at once. This keeps the energy flowing from one to another and stops me getting ‘stuck’. But every now and again a piece I am working on starts to bug me, and I can get no satisfaction until I finish it.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to post an image of the completed larger painting soon. But don’t bet on it! It’s proving to be a reluctant canvas. If I can introduce some discipline I’ll set it aside for a while and come back to it afresh. But meanwhile, and in contrast, I wanted to let my hair down for an hour or so and be a little more expressive. This was the result. Its only 25x30cm but has given me more satisfaction than the rest of the work I’ve done for the past fortnight.
