I’m not sure why I haven’t posted this picture before. Perhaps because my wife, Hilary, wants me to keep it! Anyway its called ‘Beyond Boscowen’ and is mixed media on canvas measuring 80x100cm. Its one of those pieces that has an immediate impact. The strong optimistic and uplifting yellow is set off by the deep blue and greens. The subject can be seen through the window of my studio and our house. I’ve walked around and to it hundreds of times, usually with Hilary and a succession of dogs that accompanied us on our local ramblings over the last 30 odd years. I know this post is not about dogs but I’m going to pay tribute to those that have been with me when inspiration has struck. They are Ross, Monty and now Frankie. If you’re not a dog lover, excuse my digression, but painting is only one of my passions. There’s also my ‘family’ and music and dance and architecture and cricket and the Penwithian landscape…………..
