‘Calm before the storm ‘ 60x60cm, mixed media on canvas.  A sense of anticipation: strange light and a muddy track which goes, once it has past the house, we know not where.

This 60x60cm canvas is an interpretation of the black, white and yellow drawings that I was making everyday during the first Covid lockdown.  Keeping it simple but not compromising richness by articulating the surface with a variety of marks.

Recent work based on the former potato fields off the coast path near my studio.  The dark headland, yellow field and dilapidated granite ‘hedges’ are all recurring motifs but it was the introduction of the gannets which resolved this 80x100cm … Continued
